Machinability: Moderate machinability (~65% of C36000 baseline). Predominantly pearlitic structure requires rigid setups and carbide tooling.
Weldability: Difficult to weld. High risk of martensite formation in the heat-affected zone; requires 300°C preheat and nickel-iron filler wire.
Formability / Cold Working: Non-deformable.
Heat Treatment & Annealing: Typically utilized as-cast or normalized from 900°C.
Machinability: Moderate to difficult machinability (~55% of C36000 baseline). Fully pearlitic matrix and high hardness (225–305 HBW) require coated carbide tooling and rigid setups.
Weldability: Extremely difficult to weld. High risk of martensite formation in the HAZ; welding is generally prohibited on stressed components.
Formability / Cold Working: Non-deformable.
Heat Treatment & Annealing: Normalized at 880°C–920°C followed by controlled air cooling to ensure a fully pearlitic matrix. Can be surface hardened by induction or flame to 55–60 HRC.
