7. Fabrication & Processing Comparison
Polyester Polyurethane (AU) Characteristics:

Machinability: Machined on conventional metalworking lathes using razor-sharp high-rake tooling and light depths of cut; ground with open-coat grinding wheels.

Formability / Cold Working: Processed via liquid cast prepolymer dispensing (open gravity or centrifugal molding) or thermoplastically injection molded/extruded (TPU pellets).

Heat Treatment & Annealing: Cast parts are demolded after initial gelling and subjected to post-cure ovens at 100°C to 110°C for 16 to 24 hours to achieve complete hard-segment phase separation and ultimate mechanical properties.

Polyether Polyurethane (EU) Characteristics:

Machinability: Lathe turned with sharp ground high-speed steel tools; cryogenically machined with liquid nitrogen for complex seals.

Formability / Cold Working: Processed via two-component liquid casting or thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) extrusion and injection molding with vacuum degassing.

Heat Treatment & Annealing: Post-cured in hot-air ovens at 100°C for 16 to 24 hours to achieve maximum mechanical property development.
