7. Fabrication & Processing Comparison
Silver 835 Characteristics:

Machinability: Rated at approximately 55% relative to C36000. Good machinability with crisp edge retention; produces shorter curling chips.

Weldability: Brazed with standard Ag-Cu-Zn filler metals. Requires active fluxing to dissolve heavy copper oxidation.

Formability / Cold Working: Moderate cold ductility; can be punched and stamped with adequate punch clearances.

Heat Treatment & Annealing: Annealed at 550°C to 620°C for 20 minutes, followed by water quench. Rapidly age-hardens at 280°C to 300°C.

Silver 800 Characteristics:

Machinability: Rated at approximately 60% relative to C36000. Clean chip evacuation; excellent machinability among silver alloys due to two-phase Cu-rich eutectic structure.

Weldability: Brazed with low-melting silver-copper-phosphorus or silver-copper-zinc fillers; close proximity of melting range (779°C-810°C) requires precise temperature control during joining.

Formability / Cold Working: Lower cold ductility than high-fineness silvers; requires intermediate annealing for heavy reductions.

Heat Treatment & Annealing: Annealed at 550°C to 600°C for 20 minutes; significant age-hardening response reaching up to 185 HV.
